Welcome to the JapanDict forum! Our goal is to provide an open and friendly discussion space to talk about the JapanDict Japanese dictionary and the Japanese language. We want our members to feel at home on the forum, and to ensure that, users are required to follow certain rules and guidelines.
Rules
Messages or threads that do not meet the guidelines set out below are subject to removal and/or closure. In addition, members who do not adhere to the rules / guidelines set out may have their account closed and be banned from the website.
Post only in English 🇬🇧 or Japanese 🇯🇵
So everyone can understand your message. Although posts in Japanese are allowed, in general it's advisable to write in English, so people that are still learning can also participate.
Be friendly and respectful ❤️
We encourage a friendly and respectful conversation. Respect other opinions and cultures, specially when you don't agree. Any kind of harassment will not be tolerated, and the moderators reserve the right to delete any post that they don't consider appropriate.
Promotions are not allowed 📢
Any kind of promotion will be deleted, and the sender may be banned if the moderators consider it appropriate. Promotions include (but are not limited to) links to websites without being explicitly requested, affiliate links, YouTube channels, personal projects, etc.

We have several tags that cover all the topics allowed in the forum. Please tag your post with the tag that better matches your content. Off-topic content will not be allowed.
If you think that there is a tag missing, please request it to be added.
No adult content 🔞
Any content that can be considered as erotic, pornographic, gore, with vile language or gross in general will not be allowed. Even images or links that could be considered borderline are not acceptable.
No piracy 🏴☠️
Only share content you have the rights to distribute. Links or instructions on how to download content that can be considered illegal are not allowed.

The JapanDict forum supports Markdown. You can improve post readability by using the toolbar to format text, or do it manually.
- Use subheadings to help split text-heavy posts into clear objectives: You can use this to help organize the text of a post. To organize longer posts with subheadings, use
# for 1st level headers, ## for 2nd level, ### for 3rd level and so on.
- Format blockquotes by placing
> at the beginning of a line
Asking questions ❓
When posting a new topic, it's possible to tag it as a "question". Doing so will allow you to mark the responses as "best" answers and help the others who may have the same problem.
